Fire prohibition still in place this long weekend

The Cariboo Fire Centre is reminding those heading out this weekend to hold off on any fires.

All open fires, including category 1 campfires, are still prohibited across the Cariboo.

“You can visit bcwildfire.ca for more information on prohibitions and restrictions, as well as high risk activities.” says Madison Dahl, Fire Information Officer.

“Those that are conducting high risk activities are required to use representative weather data to determine fire danger ratings for their location, as it does change everyday.”

Dahl adds that anyone who plans on using ATV and UTV’s should make sure they have a spark arrestor fitted to the exhaust.

If you see a wildfire, you’re asked to report it to 1-800-663-5555, or through the BC Wildfire app.
