ICBC Reminding drivers to stay safe this BC Day long weekend

A survey from ICBC showed people are still willing to go on road trips, even with considerations of rising costs and other factors.

This long weekend, they’re expecting a lot more drivers on the road, prompting a reminder for drivers to prepare for busier than normal roads.

“Typically over the BC Day long weekend, distracted driving, impaired driving, and failing to yield the right of way are the top contributing factors in about just over 2000 crashes where on average two people are killed and 552 are injured provincially.” says Tracey Hoffman, Community Coordinator.

Hoffman added that drivers need to put the phone down and focus on the road ahead, and if you have alcohol or drugs, plan ahead for a safe ride home.
