150 Mile House Community Hall under indefinite closure

The 150 Mile House Community Hall, a part of the Volunteer Fire Department, has had its doors shut.

This comes as the CRD did their due diligence of reviewing some of the buildings in the area, which led to code compliance issues for the dual use of the hall.

“Basically, the major issue is that because it’s being utilized for dual use, so community hall and fire hall, there’s requirements for fire separation and things like that between occupied uses, and those don’t exist.” says Murray Daly, Chief Administrative Officer.

Daly added that the next steps are to go through a review process of the hall to address the issues.

Once they know what needs to be done or if it’s possible to allow the dual use, then the CRD will have a better idea of when the Community Hall can open again.

Daly mentions that the fire department will be able to use the fire hall for it’s intended purpose.
