Conservation Officer Services monitoring bears in Alexis Creek

Alexis Creek RCMP put out a warning on social media stating that three grizzly bears have made residence in the area.

Conservation Officer, Sergeant Jeff Tyre said in an email response that they’re currently monitoring the behaviour of the bears, and are in contact with Wildlife Biologists who are aware of the situation.

If you do come across a bear, Tyre said to keep your distance, and avoid the area if possible until they move on.

It’s important to also manage attractants, especially garbage, as they’re likely seeking food sources and if they’re not rewarded, they’ll move on over time.

If you see any of the bears in the area, you’re asked to report to the RAPP line at 1-877-952-7277.
