Richmond and Armstrong re-elected for 8th Consecutive Year

The Chair and Vice-Chair of the Cariboo Regional District will remain the same following their board election Friday.

Al Richmond has been re-elected as Chair for the 8th consecutive year.

Richmond says he wants to continue building relationships with municipalities.

“We have strong relationships at the moment and strong relationships with our First Nations communities as well. As I indicated for the first time we had active participation in our Emergency Operations Centre with First Nations being in the room to help us address issues that were in and around their communities.”

The biggest issue for the Board going forward, according to Richmond is economic development.

“We’re hoping to bring a forward a plan in January to do that and do some consulting in the centre of the North and South Cariboo and bring together that plan, along with a regional plan for economic diversification in our region. We need to get people working and to make it an attractive place for young folks to come.”

Also re-elected for the 8th consecutive year, was Area A Director Ted Armstrong as Vice-Chair.

Armstrong was elected by acclamation with Richmond defeating Area D Director Steve Forseth.
