The Cariboo Regional District has upgraded the Townsend Creek Area to an Evacuation Order.
Evacuation route:
- Head West on Mount Creek Road and turn North (right) on Lavington Road;
- Continue to head North and continue onto Tibbles Road;
- At the junction, turn East (right) on the Nazko Road / Blackwater Road / North Fraser Road;
- Continue East until you reach Quesnel.
The Cariboo Regional District has issued an Evacuation ORDER for the Townsend Creek Area. People in this area must leave immediately. #RCMP expediting this action.

As of 1:57 this afternoon Sunday, the fire has grown to an estimated 320 hectares in size.

Original Story:
Two evacuation alerts caused by wildfires, have been issued by the Cariboo Regional District (CRD) for the Townsend Creek area, and Branch Road area.
Townsend Creek area:
The Townsend Creek wildfire was discovered earlier this afternoon, and has since grown to 110 hectares.
Currently, the wildfire is out of control, with the Cariboo Fire Centre noting the cause to be from lightning.
Branch Road area:
The Branch Road wildfire is currently sitting at 75 hectares, with the Cariboo Fire Centre suspecting the cause to be from lightning.
The wildfire is also deemed as out of control.
There are 241 active wildfires across the Province, 24 of them in the Cariboo Fire Centre.
