During Williams Lake City Council, it was announced that the Stampede broke another attendance record.
Mayor Surinderpal Rathor provided numbers he was told at the appreciation dinner, saying that the event drew in unofficially, around 15,367 people.
“We have broken records almost year after year, and I could not be more thankful to the Stampede Association, as well a thanks to the leadership from Courtney Smith and his board has shown, and thanks to everyone involved.” says Rathor.
“It’s a pride and honour for Williams Lake.”
While Rathor partially attributes the large attendance to the parade marshal, he’s still hopeful that the Stampede will continue to see more people next year.
He notes that this sort of attendance has massive impact for the community, with limited hotel rooms being available, restaurants being busy, and more people working.
As for next year, Rathor says work is already starting up for next years Stampede Parade.
