Quesnel City Council has approved the temporary closure of a street for a line of duty death procession for Lieutenant Brian Morgan on Sunday.
City Manager Byron Johnson noted that the request was to close off the 100 to 300 block of Kinchant Street between 12-20 to 1 and then again from 1-45 to 2 p.m.
“The procession will start at City Hall parking lot and proceed down the small portion of St. Laurent Avenue to Kinchant, and then will continue down Kinchant to the city parking lot between the Royal Canadian Legion and St. Andrews. It will continue to the rear area of the Quesnel Seniors Centre where there will be a celebration of life and a color guard bell service inside the Seniors Centre. The saluting parade will take place after that.”
Johnson noted that Morgan was an active volunteer at the fire department for 29 years from 1991 to 2020.
“He passed away on May 19th after a long courageous battle with cancer. Brian’s passing is classed as a line of duty death as his illness was recognized as a long term occupational disease from fire fighting.”
RCMP will be assisting with traffic and closure of the street.
