Rebuild of West Fraser Road in the Quesnel area is nearing completion

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has provided an update on the rebuild of West Fraser Road in the Quesnel area.

It is not 85 percent complete and the 103.4 million dollar project is still scheduled to be finished by September 1st.

The Ministry says some of the work that still needs to be done includes more paving, the installation of concrete roadside barriers to protect against large drops in deep embankment areas and on both ends of the new bridge, and the installation of concrete blocks and roadside barriers to protect against the risk of falling rock.

Signage and pavement markings are also still on the to do list.

Five different sections of West Fraser Road were damaged during the spring freshet back in April of 2018.

Impacted residents have been using a 17-kilometre detour along the Garner and Webster Lake Roads.
