Heavy Rains To Continue Into The Evening Throughout The Cariboo

Heavy rain continues to pour down over the Cariboo.

Earlier today (May 23) Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for the region as total rainfall could amount to 30 to 50 millimetres.

“We have a special weather statement in affect because we have been getting lots of rain and a bit more is still yet to come for today especially for the South Peace, into the 100 Mile House region that’s where we could see another 10 to 20 millimetres fall during the day today.”

Sehkon added that what Environment Canada has seen so far in places like the Northern Cariboo, in through Quesnel, not as much precipitation, about 8 millimetres or so.

“As we look further South, and especially into higher terrain that’ where we’ve seen heavier amounts. Over the Cariboo we’ve seen about 10 millimetres and another 10 to 20 possibly.”

Sekhon noted the rain should continue into this evening and that a mini ridge is building in on Thursday and Friday, and temperatures in the Cariboo will be in the mid 20’s which is just a little higher than seasonal.
