This year is the 15 year anniversary for the Kidney Walk, hosted by the Kidney Foundation.
The walk takes place across BC and the Yukon, and has a goal of raising awareness and funds towards the foundation.
“Within 15 years, we’ve raised over $3.6 million, with a total of 6,379 participants with over 665 teams and over 550 sponsors.” says Daniel Hutchings, 2023 Kidney Walk Ambassador.
Hutchings added that there’s 14 or 15 people on dialysis in Williams Lake, with 15 British Columbians and people in Yukon finding out about the diagnosis a day.
The Kidney Foundation has been a vital asset, and has even helped Hutchings in the past, with lodging and others with transportation.
The Kidney walk is on June 4th at RC Cotton Park with check-ins at 9:00am and the walk beginning at 10:00am.
