Williams Lake and District Chamber of Commerce holding bear naming contest

The Williams Lake and District Chamber of Commerce received a donation of a log carving from the organizers of the 2022 Stampede Street Party.

In a release from the Chamber, they said the log carving of a bear was donated to show gratitude for their commitment to the community, and to provide a home for the bear.

The Chamber is also looking for a name for the bear, so to help with that, they’re holding a naming contest.

“We want the people to be involved in naming the bear.” says Jason Ryll, Executive Director.

“We thought it was a kind donation from the organizers of last year’s street party to give to us, and so we wanted to extend that opportunity out to the public to name our new resident bear at the Tourism Centre.”

The contest will be ending on June 9th, with the winner being announced on June 12th.

Anyone can submit their idea by visiting the Tourism Discovery Centre in person, or by emailing [email protected].

For more information on the bear carving and the contest, you can visit the Williams Lake and District Chamber of Commerce website here.
