Evacuation Alert Issued Due To Pelican Lake Fire In The Chilcotin

An Evacuation Alert was issued just after 9 last night (Thursday May 18) by the Cariboo Regional District at the Emergency Operations Centre for 257 parcels in the Pelican Lake Area covering 28,211 hectares.

The Pelican Lake Fire is located 7 kilometres southwest of the community of Anahim Lake and Ulkatcho First Nation and the Cariboo Fire Centre reports it’s estimated to be 160 hectares, classified as out of control and suspected to be caused by a person.

For residents on evacuation alert, the CRD said please be prepared to evacuate your premises or property should it be required.

Residents will be given as much advance notice as possible prior to evacuation, however the CRD said you may receive limited notice due to changing conditions.
