Williams Lake Council passes first reading of proposed residential project

Williams Lake is one step closer to having a new residential project begin work.

Council had its first reading on Tuesday, going over the zoning amendment for the project at 1075 Prosperity Way, covering 60.9 acres.

“So we’ve been working behind the scenes with the developers since last year to bring this major development proposal forward,” says Jessica Ball, City Planner.

“and the challenges include traffic assessment, geotechnical constraints, wildfire and servicing, and they’ll still need to be addressed by the developer.”

The City is working with the developer and Ministry of Transportation to address the concerns surrounding the traffic.

Ball noted that the project will bring a positive impact on the current housing crisis the city continues to face.

Next, the project will go to an OCP public consultation open house as soon as June 8th.

More information about the project can be found on the City of Williams Lake website here.
