Williams Lake Firefighters recognized and welcomed at Council

During last night’s Williams Lake City Council meeting, Fire Chief Evan Dean introduced the department’s new recruits.

Six new members were at council, receiving a warm welcome from the mayor and Councillors, with two other recruits unable to attend due to work.

“Their service begins now, and those people are equally learning from somebody on how to volunteer, how to dedicate their life, how to sacrifice their family time, their time for the benefit of the community.” says Surinderpal Rathor, Mayor.

Along with the new recruits, multiple firefighter were recognized for hitting a milestone in time serving the community.

Five firefighters reached the five year mark, along with one reaching 10 years, one at 15, and one more at 30 years, which is federally recognized.

Rathor than gave them certificates for their time and commitment to the community.
