Smoke to clear Cariboo skies by tonight

Smoke has already begun to move back up north, clearing skies in the Cariboo.

Gail Roth, Air Quality Meteorologist, says Williams Lake was only hazy, reaching it’s peak at around 9:00am, but didn’t meet the criteria of their advisory.

Quesnel on the other hand will still see smoke throughout the day.

“As of 11:00am, we’ve seen quite a big drop in the particulate concentration,” says Roth.

“it’s possible there could be a little bit of smoke and you get another little peak again through today, but trending towards improvement, and I’m expecting Quesnel to be off by tomorrow.”

Roth added that Quesnel will start to see significant improvements by tonight, or as late as overnight.
