Suspect Charged In Connection With Quesnel Shooting Back in Court

A Prince George man, charged in connection with a shooting incident in Quesnel, will be back in court on Jan. 26 to set a date for his trial.

29-year old Eric John Vining was ordered to stand trial at his Preliminary Inquiry on Friday. Vining is facing several charges including Attempted Murder and Discharging a Firearm with Intent to Wound or Disfigure.

Quesnel RCMP was called to a residence in the West Fraser Drive area in June of last year.

Police say a male suspect reportedly entered the residence, produced a handgun and demanded money before firing the gun.

RCMP say it was extremely fortunate that no one was hit.

Police say the suspect then fled the scene in a blue pick-up truck that was reported to be on fire less than an hour and a half later on nearby Marsh Road.

Investigators quickly determined that their suspect was Vining, a violent prolific offender from Prince George, who was known to police.

He was arrested later that night in Prince George.
