Communities as far south as Williams Lake will see smoke in the sky due to wildfires.
There’s no particular wildfire causing the build up of smoke, as it’s a build up of smoke from other provinces.
“Central Northern Alberta’s got a lot of wildfire activity that’s generating a lot of smoke, and there are some active wildfires in the BC Peace region as well.” says Gail Roth, Air Quality Meteorologist.
Roth attributes weather to be the main cause of the smoke from the north east making its way down south.
She expects that the Quesnel area will have a little more smoke than Williams Lake, with a potential of increased smoke in Wells Gray Park.
As for how long the smoky skies will last, Roth expects it to last into tomorrow, but says could change, as conditions are checked daily.
