In their continuing effort to reduce some items ending up in the landfill, the Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation Society will be holding a special event that gets bigger every year its held.
Chief Green Officer with the Society, Oliver Berger said any resident in Quesnel, 100 Mile House, and Williams Lake interested in taking part must sign up with them by 10 this Friday night (May12).
“This is our Annual Mothers Day Free your Things weekend where we’re going to be sharing things that we want to purge curbside with our neighbors. In lieu of a few Share Sheds closing down, we’re going to take Share Sheds to our driveway.”
Berger noted that it’s a great way for residents to do a little spring cleaning around their homes, however, not all items should be placed at the curb.
“I like to use the Salvation Army’s rule of thumb when when you’re giving away stuff you don’t want anymore. If you wouldn’t want to take it from the thrift store, then don’t donate it. Stuff that can be used if it’s broken and needs to be repaired leave a note on it saying what needs to be fixed, building supplies, toys, small appliances, books, things like that can be placed at the curb.”

Berger reminds the public Anyone interested in taking part in the Free your things weekend is asked to register with the Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation Society by messaging them or emailing [email protected] and to include your address, including postal code, a brief list of the free things you expect to have and you’re location will be added to their interactive map.
