Late Night House Fire Injures One Person in Anahim Lake

At midnight on Sunday, (April 30) Anahim Lake RCMP were called to a house fire on Dorsey Road.

North District Corporal Madonna Saunderson said in release emergency personnel attended and immediately located the home owner outside of his residence after he and his dog escaped the fully engulfed structure.

“He had received injuries as a result of the fire and was taken to hospital. It is not believed the injuries are life threatening. There were no reported injuries to the dog,” Saundseron said.

With no fire protection services in Anahim Lake, the Ulkatcho band water truck attended along with community members with an excavator and a fire break was made around the residence.

“Dawson Road Maintenance attended as assisted with traffic control and monitored the power lines in the area.” Saunderson said, “BC Wildfire Services and BC Hydro were notified. Around 6 am the fire was reported to be extinguished.

Police said there’s nothing criminal suspected and the cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
