Accused in a serious assault in Quesnel will go to trial

A tentative trial date has been set for the accused in a serious assault in Quesnel.

41-year old Richard James Meier is due back in court on September 16th of next year.

He was ordered to stand trial following a Preliminary Inquiry in March.

Meier is charged with aggravated assault.

Quesnel RCMP were called to G.R. Baker Hospital back on December 8th, 2021 for a victim of an assault.

Police say further investigation revealed that an altercation had taken place between two people at the Northern Network for Peers for Equality downtown on St. Laurent Avenue.

A 36-year old man suffered life-threatening injuries.
