Williams Lake Fire Department Responds To 2 Callouts In Less Than 24 Hours

There wasn’t plenty of time for the Williams Lake Fire Department to catch their breath this past weekend.

On Friday afternoon around 3 o’clock, Fire Chief Evan Dean said they were called out to a report of a structure fire in the Dog Creek area.

“When crews arrived the fire had spread into a green house and they fairly quickly knocked that down although the structure was unfortunately lost. There was quite a bit of dry wild land in the area so crews were able to contain it to the property.”

Dean added that they responded with 21 firefighters, 3 large apparatus and that the specific cause of the fire is undetermined.

Then Saturday afternoon around 2:30 Williams Lake Fire Department responded to a mutual aid call from the Wildwood Volunteer Fire Department as they had a structure fire that had become a bit of a wild land fire in the area.

“So we actually ended up having two of our larger apparatus as well as one of our duty trucks with with extra members go out to attend.” Dean said, “We had 15 extra firefighters on scene. BC Wildfire was contacted and were on scene as well.”

Williams Lake Fire Department was on scene for approximately 4 hours.
