Williams Lake Has A Record Setting Weekend

The warmest weather that we’ve seen so far this past weekend resulted in a couple of temperature records being broken in the Lake City.

Bobby Sekhon, Meteorologist with Environment Canada said even those there were a couple of records set in the hub of the Cariboo, there weren’t any for Quesnel.

“In Williams Lake on Saturday the 29th, they saw a new record at 25.4 degrees which beat the old record of 22.5 from 1979. Then on the 30th, 24.3 compared to the previous record of 24 from 1998.”

Sekhon noted that temperatures are expected to rise into the mid 20’s Tuesday through Thursday and as we get into the weekend they’ll drop back down to near normal around 18-19 degrees along with some showers.

“As we approach Wednesday and Thursday things get a little unsettled maybe with a risk of thunderstorms possible later this week. Especially as we get to Friday and into the weekend that’s when we’re seeing a trough come through, temperatures are going to drop back down to near normal for this time of year, so definitely come later this week, into the weekend we’re going to see a change in the weather.”
