Dripping Water Wildfire In The Chicoltin Now 209 hectares In Size

BC Wildfire Service personnel continue their battle with the Dripping Water Wildfire 3 kilometers north of the community of Tle’etinqox and approximately 9 kilometers southeast of Alexis Creek.

Talila Mckay, Communication Specialist with the Cariboo Fire Centre, said its currently 209 hectares in size and is still out of control showing Rank 1 and Rank 2 fire behavior.

“They do have containment around 100 percent of the fire and crews are working to supply hose lines on the North end of the fire to reinforce containment and on the South end of the fire they’re working on mop up and patrol. We have BC Wildfire personnel on site with heavy equipment and aviation support available. They are seeing precipitation, low winds are expected showing for minimal fire behavior.”

An Evacuation Alert by the Tsilhqot’in National Government and Cariboo Regional District is still in place.

In the south, Mckay says the Lost Valley Road wildfire, 3 kilometers East of Pressy Lake and 6 kilometers Southwest of Bonaparte, is at 113 hectares and is being held.

24 personnel with heavy equipment are still on site.

Mckay says with the weather being favorable no growth is expected.
