The Cariboo Fire Centre has announced a category 3 open fire prohibition across the region.
In a release from the Fire Centre, they say the prohibition will come into effect at 12:00pm on Thursday, May 4th.
The prohibition includes:
- any fires larger than two meters high by three meters wide
- three or more concurrently burning piles no larger than two meters high by three meters wide
- burning of one or more windrows
- burning of stubble or grass over an area greater than 0.2 hectares.
This does not include campfires half a metre high by half a metre wide or smaller, cooking stoves that use gas, propane or briquettes, and category 2 fires.
The prohibition is to prevent human caused wildfires, and will last until October 27th, at 12:00pm.
