Central Cariboo Search and Rescue looks to remind residents on outdoor safety

Central Cariboo Search and Rescue (CCSR) is prepared for the public to head out an enjoy the nice weather.

With that bump in temperatures, comes safety concerns that people should be aware of before and while out at the back 40.

“We do want to encourage everyone to remember safe driving practices, which includes to slow down and be aware of increased wildlife on the roads and to never get behind the wheel if you are distracted.” says Debra Bortolussi, Public Relations Coordinator.

“That’s either texting and driving or under the influence.”

Bortolussi added that trip planning is an essential part when heading out, such as letting someone know you’re leaving a populated area.

So far this year, she says CCSR has already responded to 12 tasks, which is half their numbers on average per year, but aren’t even reached the half way point this year.
