Williams Lake and 100 Mile House won’t use Growing Communities Fund yet

Williams Lake and 100 Mile House Council wont put provincial funding to use quite yet.

Williams Lake received $3,728,000 from the Growing Communities Fund for infrastructure in the Community.

The City already knows the money will go towards the Water Treatment Plant, but Vitali Kozubenko, Chief Financial Officer, says the project is on hold for now.

“This project is depending on an even bigger grant from the federal government, and we’re still waiting on the results of the grant.”

Kozubenko added that the project will begin this year, but will take another three to four years to complete.

Maureen Pinkney, 100 Mile House Mayor, said that there are no plans for their grant, but acknowledges the work needing to be done for their sidewalks and vehicles needing to be replaced.

For more information on the Growing Communities Fund, and the list of funds each community got can be found on our previous story here.
