BC Wildfire Service in partnership with Tsideldel First Nation will conduct a series of prescribed burns.
The total area to be burned is 119 hectares, divided into parcels located on the north and south side of Highway 20, 188 kilometers west of Williams Lake within the community of Tsideldel.
BC Wildfire Service said burning will take place between April 25 and May 5 and that smoke and flames will be visible in the area with firefighters closely monitoring the fire activity at all times.
The goal of this prescribed burn is to reduce wildfire risk by eliminating fuels.
BC Wildfire Service said this will create a fuel break between the community and the surrounding grasslands and promote the growth of native grasses.
