Wildland Fire Extinguished By Williams Lake Fire Department

Williams Lake Fire Department responded to a wildland fire behind Huston Agencies.

Fire Chief Evan Dean said they got the call Saturday (April 22) afternoon just after 2 and were on the scene for about an hour.

“22 firefighters and 4 apparatus all responded just to extinguish a fire that was on the hillside just below CN Rail. Some of the drier grass in the area as well as some of the marsh was burnt but it was contained to a relatively small area.”

Dean said at this point the Williams Lake Fire Department believes the fire was started by a small campfire in the River Valley area.

With warmer temperatures forecasted for later this week Dean reminds the public that with the drier conditions and the winds that we’ve had of late, anyone that is doing any burning in the region to use a high level of caution because they can get away fairly quickly.
