Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation Society hosting a contest for Earth Day

The Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation Society (CCCS) is looking to help the Earth through a contest this year.

They look to reduce the amount of plastic waste that gets created when residents go out shopping.

“The idea is that we are encouraging people to bring your own container to some of the places around town that offer this service.” says Amandah Cullum, Program Coordinator.

“So NEXT GENeral Mercantile & Refillery (Williams Lake), Sta-Well Health Foods (Williams Lake), River Valley Health & Wellness (Williams Lake), Bulk Barn (Williams Lake), and the Cariboo Mountain Market in Quesnel.”

If you choose to participate in the contest, you can then post a photo of your purchase in the comments of the CCCS facebook post.

Cullum added that we’re seeing more single use plastic go into the landfills when it’s not needed.

The contest has already begun, and will conclude on Sunday, April 23rd at 5:00pm.
