City of Williams Lake pleased to be a hub targeting repeat offenders

Williams Lake will now have help in targeting repeat violent offenders through enforcement and monitoring.

This comes after continuous efforts calling for provincial help, not only from local government officials, but residents as well.

“This has really payed off, when you’re talking Kamloops and Prince George, Kelowna, Nanaimo, Victoria, Vancouver, we’re the small one in this group.” says Scott Nelson, Councillor.

“I think all that lobbying and that continuous enforcement that we put behind it, just continuously raising issues about prolific offenders has truly payed off.”

Nelson said that the outcome they look to see is one where there’s less prolific offenders running around in the community.

The 12 new hubs, including Williams Lake, is a part of the province’s Safer Communities Action Plan.

More information on the 12 hubs can be found on the BC Government’s website here.
