The Canim Lake Band will observe World AIDS Day in a very special way this year as they prepare to unveil a short film detailing their history with the disease

The film, which was almost ten months in the making, will also touch on the efforts of the Circle of Life support group that operates in Canim Lake.

Sheila Dick, the Health Director at the White Feather Centre, explains what the Band hoped to accomplish with the almost twenty-minute video:

We’ve had a few people who have died in the community and people that have died away from the community, but our goal is to take this video and for people to share this video and learn from it.

Tonight’s showing is aimed at Band and community members to get some feedback and serve as a “soft launch,” with a wider release planned for when those involved are satisfied with the tone of the project.
