Quesnel Fire Department responds to to vehicle/structure fire

The Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department responded to a vehicle/structure fire on Saturday evening.

Fire Chief Ron Richert says a call came in at around 5-20 from a home on Marble Street in the Dragon Lake area.

“Upon arrival, we had a fully involved vehicle that was in a carport attached to the home. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the vehicle with no damage to the home itself.”

Richert says the homeowner helped to prevent the fire from spreading.

“The homeowner called it in and actually kept the fire at bay using some water and snow until we arrived and were able to extinguish it.  The vehicle was destroyed in the fire but there was no damage to the home or even the carport.”

Richert says even the siding didn’t melt.

He says the vehicle was a car.

Richert says ten fire fighters responded and they were able to knock the fire down quickly.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
