Dangerous avalanche conditions reported in the Cariboo

Avalanche Canada is reporting dangerous conditions at Mica Mountain and the surrounding area.

This follows the snow storm that hit the Cariboo yesterday (November 30th) morning and afternoon.

“Currently the conditions we have rated on our bulletin, they’re considerable in the alpines, moderate at treeline and low below treeline.” says Jesse Percival, Avalanche Forecaster with Avalanche Canada.

He added that conditions should improve slightly, however it will be dependent on the weather.

For anyone looking to head to Mica Mountain or the surrounding area, Percival said that people should have the proper training and tools, checking the avalanche bulletin and sharing information on the conditions with Avalanche Canada.

This would be through the mountain information network or min report on their website.

For more information and to stay up to date with the avalanche conditions, you can visit Avalanche Canada’s website here.
