Over $400 was raised by staff at the Cariboo Regional District for the Canadian Chapter of Doctors without Borders for their emergency relief fund on Friday.
Chief Administrative Officer Janis Bell says that staff look for opportunities to give back to communities and chose to support the Canadian Doctors without Borders.
“They came up with the idea that we should do a fundraiser for the Canadian Doctors without Borders to support people who have recently experienced the terrorist attacks and the assistance that they’re giving there,” she said.
“So we had a really good turn out; all of the staff rallied and we even had one of our fire chiefs participate.”
As of 3 pm, Bell says they were able to raise more than $400.
Staff also wore red, white, and blue in honor of the residents in Paris, Lebanon, and other cities that suffered terrorist attacks last week.
