The Cariboo Cougars needed some players to step up after losing Chase Dubois and Colton Thomas earlier this season to long-term injuries.
One of the players who has picked up the slack is 16 year old Williams Lake product Trey Thomas.
Thomas has amassed 21 points in the 34 games while playing on a line with Daine Dubois and Mason Richey.
He says the recent success ties into two things.
“I’m feeling good lately and my line is getting some point and the team is winning.”
“I was a little nervous at the start of the year, it’s a big league and have gotten more comfortable by moving up the lines.”
Thomas and the Cougars remain in the hunt for first overall in the BCMML as they are neck and neck with the Valley West Hawks.
Cariboo hits the road next weekend in Abbotsford against the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds.
