Tis The Season For Safe Rides Home In Williams Lake

After being stalled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Operation Red Nose is revved up and ready to roll in Williams Lake.

Organizer Deborah Pickering said they’re really excited to be able to offer safe rides home for you and your vehicle on Friday and Saturday nights for a total of 9 evenings over the holiday season.

Not only is the organization thrilled to begin this service again starting this Friday night, (November 25) Pickering added that the community is as well.

“Everybody that I’ve talked to about Operation Red Nose since I’ve been going about my organizational duties they’re all super happy to hear that it’s available again because it is such a worthwhile program and all the funds raised go to non-profit youth groups in Williams Lake.”

This year donations will be divided among the Cariboo-Chilcotin Fiddle Society, Minor Hockey U18 Female Rep Team, Camp Likely, and the Cariboo-Chilcotin Gymnastics Association.

People that do wish to use the services of Operation Red Nose Friday and Saturday Nights between 9 pm and 3 am people can call 250-392-22-22.

“The phone number will be active throughout,” Pickering said, “even during the week people can phone me if they have a company Christmas party planned for one of the Fridays or Saturdays that we’re driving they can let me know, and then we’ll be aware that there’s going to be potentially a lot of calls from that specific location that night.”

Pickering noted that they have a good number of volunteers and that she’s still taking applications from the community who wish to participate

“They can contact me online w[email protected] or at 250-267-7326 for more information”
