The City of Williams Lake is launching a matching fund campaign beginning this week.
The matching fund campaign is tied to the City’s endowment fund, which began last year, and saw some success.
“We had a really good first year. We went from $0 to $150,000 thanks to a anonymous donation.” says Beth Veenkamp, Manager of Economic Development for the City of Williams Lake.
“That same donor has come back with an offer of $100,000 dollars in matching funds for anything that we can raise through the community.”
In a release from the City, their goal is to offer grants to community groups and organizations, which covers a broad variety of needs.
Veenkamp noted that it’s a long term plan for the city, as they still need to pull in interest or dividends.
