Respiratory Infections Increase as Flu Season Hits

With the influenza season taking affect, there have been more medical problems coming up for some.

Interior Health has already begun to see a rise in respiratory infections, and people being hospitalized.

As of right now, it’s unclear as to if the numbers are higher than usual.

“Generally respiratory season peaks in between the weeks of Christmas and New Years, and then in the month following that, we can do an analysis and compare to previous years.” says Dr. Carol Fenton, Medical Health Officer with Interior Health.

Fenton added that we need to stay home when sick, and to keep our germs to ourselves.

Lastly, she mentioned that they want to prevent the scenarios that they’re currently seeing elsewhere.
