The City of Williams Lake has announced the new Fire Chief and Director of Protective Services.
Evan Dean will be taking the reins, as he has been an employee under the City for the past 11 years.
“I was extremely humbled honestly, and completely honored. It was not entirely expected, so I’m quite excited and looking forward to the opportunity.” say Evan Dean, Williams Lake Fire Chief.
Dean has had the opportunity to work with previous Williams Lake fire chiefs, and now looks forward to pushing the messages he’s gathered from them.
He covered positions such as the Senior Bylaw Officer and Manager of RCMP Municipal Services, City’s Fire Inspection/Training Officer, and served as a firefighter for nine years.
In a release from the City, Mayor Surinderpal Rathor said “It is wonderful to be able to promote from within the organization, and I know I speak for the rest of Council when I say we are looking forward to working with Evan in this capacity.”
The City thanks Acting Fire Chief Randy Isfeld for leading the department on an interim basis.
The previous Fire Chief was Erick Peterson, who left back in August to be the Fire Chief in Abbotsford.
