Plans For The New Snowblower At The Williams Lake Airport Have Been Grounded

The newest snowblower for the Williams Lake Airport didn’t meet expectations.

“We received it last December and we put it into service trying to blow some snow and for the conditions, we have here in Williams Lake we ran into some issues that we where it wasn’t performing to our expectations,” Rob Warnock, Director of Municipal Services for the City of Williams Lake, said.

He noted that the current company of the machine and the City of Williams Lake have agreed to part ways and that they’ll be reaching out to the second bidder to see if they will still honor their price.

Warnock said the City is probably looking at approximately 400 days before they would receive a new one.

In the meantime, he added they’ll continue to use the old snowblower as well as another one that fits on a loader to get the snow off the runways.

The new machine was given to the Williams Lake Airport through a Federal grant of $502,000 from the Ministry of Transportation.
