Two Quesnel groups get provincial tourism funding

The provincial government announced funding for 100 events across the province this morning (Thursday), including for a pair in Quesnel.

The Quesnel Rodeo Club and the Quesnel Children’s Festival Multicultural Performances will receive 10 thousand dollars each.

These donations were made through the province’s Tourism Events Program (TEP).

“B.C.’s many sports competitions, arts festivals and events are vital to our tourism sector and a thriving economy,” said Lisa Beare, Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport in a news release.

“This program allows organizers to raise awareness about their amazing events and inspires British Columbians and people from around the world to attend.”

The program was temporarily suspended through the first two years of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In April, the province announced TEP’s return, with $4.8 million dollars to donate.
