Tourism Annual General Meeting More Than Two Years In The Making

It’s been more than two years since tourism operators across the region were able to meet in person to hear about the state of the industry.

On Thursday (November 3) they’ll have that opportunity when the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Annual General Meeting takes place at the Community Centre in 100 Mile House.

CEO Amy Thacker says attendees will hear updates from partners Destination BC, the Tourism Association of BC, and the BC Hotel Association, and the focus of the event will be on business.

“How the season’s been. What the predictions are for the coming years? And we have plans underway for more of a full Tourism Summit with broader topics and issues and opportunities to address for the springtime.”

Thacker said they are very excited to be hosting in-person again and added it will also be great having everyone together to celebrate their 60th anniversary.

“60 years as an incorporated not-for-profit. The organization and Tourism Industry have been working cooperatively in the Cariboo Chilcotin for about 65 but they incorporated 60 years ago this summer.”

Thacker noted the keynote speaker for the AGM will be Paralympian Josh Duek who will share his stories of the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast, including the time he spent paddling the Bowron Lakes Chain.
