Halloween Fireworks are a Go for Williams Lake

The 43rd annual Halloween Fireworks event will be happening this Halloween (Monday, October 31st) in Williams Lake, after the open fire ban concluded yesterday.

The event is at the Stampede Grounds, and will have a bonfire, hot chocolate and hot dogs by donation, and will have more fireworks than in years past.

“The gates are gonna open at 7:00pm and then after the fireworks, which should be finished by 8:00pm, the event will be ending.” says Maria McKee, Adult Program Coordinator for the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Centre.

McKee added that people don’t have to dress up in costumes to attend, but does advise people to dress appropriately for the weather.

Though, people are encouraged to wear costumes, and to get creative.

Previously, the event was cancelled in 2020, but then came back in 2021, however it was scaled back.

The Suey Bay wildfire on Horsefly Lake is estimated to be 2,331 hectares in size.

Evac Alert in Holtry Creek Lifted

The Ulkatcho First Nation and the Cariboo Regional District have rescinded the Evacuation Alert in the Holtry Creek Fire Area. The Alert was issued on September 16 and included portions of the Dusty Lake Fire Zone, approximately 310 km west of Williams Lake. The alert covered 65 parcels and 26,826 hectares.
