Williams Lake Stampede to Apply for Crime Prevention Grant

Williams Lake City Council will be providing a letter of support for the Stampede Association to the Civil Forfeiture and Crime Prevention Grant.

This follows the shooting incident that occurred on the Stampede Grounds in July.

“We need to put an extra layer of security around the Stampede Grounds and around the community.” says Scott Nelson, Williams Lake City Councillor.

“What occurred down there with that incident with the shooting, there’s an opportunity to put some cameras up, and we’re gonna dig in and request for the Civil Forfeiture Grant application of $12,000 to put cameras in the Stampede Grounds.”

Nelson further added that it’s not only for the Stampede, but for other events over the course of the year. They want to be geared up and ready to go as soon as possible.

For more information on the grant, you can check the BC government’s website here.
