More Materials Found at Boitanio Mall Excavation

On Wednesday (October 19) more archaeological materials we found at the excavation site at Boitanio Mall.

This follows the original finds on October 13th, where a projectile point was found, which could have been from an arrow or spear.

You can find the original story for the finds here.

In a release from the Williams Lake First Nation, they say that pieces of a second projectile point was found, a roasting pit feature, and evidence of a purpose built fire pit likely for slow cooking food.

The discoveries were made by Archer CRM and Sugar Cane Archaeology.

Once the water-main has been repaired, there will be no further ground disturbing excavations needed for the project.

Before the pit is covered, the hearth feature will be flagged to ensure its visibility during any future ground disturbing excavations.
