A lot of Cariboo residents didn’t vote in the municipal election

A lot of Cariboo residents stayed home during this year’s municipal election.

These are preliminary numbers, but voter turnout was pretty low.

Williams Lake had the highest at around 38.4 percent, which was only slightly lower than in 2018, but well below the 45.2 percent that voted back in 2014.

In Quesnel, roughly 29.5 percent of eligible voters cast a ballot this year, which was actually a little higher than in 2018 but there wasn’t a Mayor’s race that year.

It was well below 40.6 percent voter turnout in 2014.

100 Mile House didn’t have a Mayor’s race this year and just 26.5 percent of eligible voters showed up at the polls.

That’s down from 44.7 percent in 2018.
