Free Transit Coming to Cariboo Communities During Elections

BC Transit along with Quesnel and Williams Lake will be offering free transit on Saturday, October 15th.

This will allow residents in the community to have an easier time to get to the polls and cast their votes.

“It’s all day and for all customers. You don’t need an election card, or your ID to get on the bus to prove you’re going to vote. says Jamie Weiss, Senior Media Relations and Public Affairs Advisor for BC Transit.

“Service for the entire transit system is going to be free this coming Saturday for everybody that wants to ride the bus.”

Weiss added that even if you’re not eligible to vote, or if you’re younger but you want to take transit for the first time, this is a great opportunity to get on a bus and see the community.

It was also noted that both Williams Lake and Quesnel will include handyDART for the free transit during elections.

For more information on the other communities included in the free transit, and the individual transit systems, you can visit the BC Transit website here.
