Structure Lost To Fire In Lac La Hache

Highway 97 was closed last night (Monday) at Lac La Hache as crews battled a structure fire.

Fire Chief Terry Murphy says they got the call at approximately 6:45 yesterday evening.

“Upon arrival, I confirmed it was a fully involved structure fire at the north end of Lac La Hache. Talking with the neighbors we found out that the residents weren’t home so that was a blessing. We responded with 3 engines, and one tender and mutual aid was called in from the 108 Mile Fire Department who attended with 2 of their water tenders as well as personnel.”

Murphy said when they arrived the structure was so fully engulfed that they went into defensive mode protecting the neighboring properties while actioning the house itself.

He said they were there until pretty close to midnight putting the fire out and no surrounding properties were affected by it.

Murphy said the structure was lost and that there were no injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
