Former Quesnel cowgirl qualifies for Canadian Finals Rodeo

A couple of Cariboo cowgirls cashed cheques at a pro rodeo stop in Edmonton over the weekend, and one got paid twice.

Melissa Thiessen, formerly of Quesnel, was 5th in the Ladies Barrel Racing for $1,480 dollars.

She was also 8th in the Breakaway Roping for $86.48.

Mariah Mannering from Quesnel was 7th in the Barrel Racing for 740 dollars and change.

This was the final event of the regular season.

The Canadian Finals Rodeo is now set for Red Deer from November 2nd through the 6th.

Lane Wills, formerly of Quesnel, qualified in 5th place in the Barrel Racing.

Her sister Brooke came up a bit short this year, sitting in 15th overall.
